SOMOAOur stop in Samoa was largely strategic. Its purpose was to make sure that we flew in the daytime, got a chance to acclimate to the time changes, and landed in Australia at a reasonable time. We are staying at a brand new beachfront spa. The newness of the facilities, plus a staff that is being trained plus the laid back Island mentality made for a unique stay. We got to the hotel about 8 PM and went to dinner. We had been met by a group of Polynesian entertainers at the airport and were entertained again at dinner. We have been treated to native dancers at every stop so far. Amusingly, some of the songs at the dinner entertainment in Samoa were reminisant of 50's rock and the dance steps, of MTV! Carol went off on an early morning tour to see Robert Louis Stevens home and to tour the countryside. I stayed behind to clean up the technology (cameras, computers, e-books, etc) and try and use the Internet. The Internet didn't work in the room and so all of us had to use the 2 machines available in the business center which was connected to the Internet via phone modem! I could have hand delivered the emails faster. |
